PROGRAMS
The Beacon
The Beacon, our drop-in centre is open on Monday and Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. It has been going for over seven years and is presently under the supervision of Rebecca Contin. Please drop in for some warmth, fellowship and a safe place to be out of the cold. If you are interested in helping out, please contact the Rector, Peter Scott , at rector@saintmark.ca or, (519) 941-0640.
Outreach
St. Mark’s is actively involved in the Orangeville community. Our food cupboard provides food and gift cards to those in need most of whom live within walking distance of the church. The church has hosted fundraisers for refugees, discussions on indigenous truth and reconciliation and many other topical issues which face our society today.
Thursday Bible Study
Every Thursday morning (September – June) following our 10:00 a.m. Eucharist our Bible Study meets from 10:45 – 11:30 a.m. downstairs in the Elizabeth Room. We study the coming Sunday’s readings with the leadership of the preacher for that Sunday. A good resource for those who wish to find out more can be found at Textweek.com. The coffee is on and the cookies are out of the oven, so please come and join us as we work together to discover what God’s word is saying to us.
Baptismal & Marriage Preparation & Funerals
St. Mark’s has baptisms four times a year for those wishing to join our community and have not been baptized. Weddings are performed at the church and at other venues throughout the year. St. Mark’s also provides pastoral care and funerals to parishioners and those who don’t have church membership. Please call the church (519) 941-0640, or you can send us an email at office@saintmark.ca
St. Mark's Choir
St. Mark’s Choir under the direction of Gregory Dickison has had a fine tradition of leading our 10:00 a.m. service in worship. The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings and from time to time performs concerts for the wider community. Please contact the church (519) 941-0640, or speak with Gregory after the service if you are interested in joining our choir.
Social Committee
Our Social Committee is very active throughout the year at St. Mark’s. Please watch the calendar on the Home page for new social events happening at St. Mark’s.
