— Welcome to St. Mark's Lions
The St. Mark’s Lions take their name from the winged lion, the symbol that represents the life and word of St. Mark.

— The Lion's Program
Our program, Spark – Activate Faith, engages children from ages 2-12 to learn the Bible in ways that are suited to their age and level of development. We follow a lectionary schedule, which means we are focused on the same lessons that are featured in the service each week. Music, activities, and crafts keep things busy! Your child will also have a handout to take home with activities you can do as a family to grow your faith at home.
Our classes are set up as follows:
Little Cubs – Infants to age 3.
Big Cubs – PreK – SK – Grade 1
Kool Kats – Grades 2-3-4
R.O.A.R. – Grades 5 – 8
— Sunday Morning
Parents and children begin arriving at St. Mark’s about 9:45 a.m. If you are new, the greeters can show you from our lobby the way to the classrooms and introduce you to Tracey Croft, our Children’s Ministry Coordinator. The Lion’s Den runs from the second Sunday in September through until the end of June. There is also a supervised nursery which is open all year round. There are usually 15-20 children in the Lion’s Den with 3-4 teachers helping them to learn about our faith. They come up each week during the service to receive communion ( First Communion classes are in February/March of each year) or a blessing. The Lion’s Tale immediately follows when the children are taught further about the faith.
— The Lion's Tale
Toward the end of the service, kids attend church as a group for Communion, and sit in the front pews for ‘The Lion’s Tale’, a short weekly chat by one of the Lion’s Den teachers or St. Mark’s clergydesigned to help children think about how to apply church teachings in their lives. Parents may pick up their children downstairs following the service during coffee hour to which everyone is invited. The Lion’s Den are also encouraged to be active members of the St. Mark’s community in various ways, by volunteering as servers and by participating in fundraising for outreach projects and special events.
— Our Teachers
We are fortunate to have experienced, enthusiastic teachers in our program! Our screened volunteer team works together with the clergy and parish management to ensure a safe environment.
New volunteers are always welcome and needed. Please speak to the Children’s Ministry Coordinator, Tracey Croft (email@example.com) if you would like to help, even for a couple of hours a month.
