Pave The Way Letter

Dear St. Mark's Parishioners,

St. Mark’s parking lot is in dire need of repaving. It has been more than 20 years since it was last paved and the harsh winter has made the need for repaving very apparent. There are areas on both sides of the church and in the main parking lot where the wear and tear is considerable. This has created many tripping hazards.

We have the unanimous approval of both Parish Council and Corporation to repave the entire parking lot, excluding the south driveway in front of the church which was recently paved.  At a Special Vestry on April 14 unanimous approval was given to begin a campaign to raise funds to repave our parking lot called, Pave The Way.At that Vestry, the Rector and Wardens were given the authority to sign a contract worth not more than $60,000 which includes contingencies for repairing the granular base below the asphalt and other issues which may be uncovered.

With 850 square meters to pave which works out to be about $70 a square meter.  We are hoping to have the money raised by this summer with the paving being completed in the fall of 2019 or spring of 2020.

Please use the pledge card included in this letter to give your support to Pave The Way. We are asking that you return your commitment card by mail or on the collection plate in the envelope included in this letter by Sunday, May 26. If you have any questions or concerns and would like a visit or to speak with the Rector, please contact the church office at (519) 941-0640.
